Small rooms, big nights

Some of my biggest nights have happened in the smallest rooms, and that order keeps surprising me.

Some of my biggest nights have happened in the smallest rooms, and that order keeps surprising me. A pub back room with low ceilings and a tiny stage will sometimes give a song everything it needs and more.

In a small room, the audience cannot hide and neither can I. There is no PA blanket to hide behind. If I sing flat, everyone hears it. If I mean it, everyone feels it. The honesty has nowhere to go.

Big stages have their own joy, and I am grateful when they come. But the small ones are where I learn most. They keep me sharp. They keep me grateful. They remind me that the size of a room has very little to do with the size of a moment.
